Hang from a number, not a guess
Drywall runs are planned in sheets. Measure total wall length to hang times height, add ceiling area, apply waste for cuts and damage, divide by sheet size. Round up so you are not one sheet short on a Friday pour of mud.
Canadian yards stock common 4×8, 4×10, and 4×12 imperial sizes even when the house is metric. This tool converts your measurements to square metres then divides by the real sheet area.
Openings and waste
Large door and window openings reduce area. For a quick field estimate, many crews leave openings in and raise waste slightly, or subtract big openings mentally and use 10% waste. Complex ceilings and bulkheads need more waste.
Mud, tape, and screws
Sheet count is step one. Joint compound, tape, corner bead, and screws depend on finish level. Price those on your quote after sheets are locked.
